Chrome ring SX200 ?

A mate has qcquired an SX200 definitely a genuine frame, numbers are perfect, it does need work, but it has a chrome ring, now as far as I know it shouldn`t have a chrome ring, but it is a very early example, within the first 500 made, I know frame rings stopped about April 1965 ish, but is there a likelihood that this is an anomaly, as its early ?

Be an interesting anomaly especially as the last few TV 175 and 200s were non chrome ring.
So with the chrome ring disappearing before the end of the previous production model it
would seem really strange to then go back to chrome ring production nearly 500 frames into
a new frame run and I would imagine that if there are no more within the first 500 SX200s
that would be it would be even less likely.
Would be nice to see the frame numbers to see how authentic they are, although as Pacemaker
says stranger things happen

Could someone at some point just added a chrome ring and headset to suit. I know I've done some strange conversions over the years

If it is Spanish it will have dashes instead of stars on the frame stamp.

I was also going to point out that TV200s, and other IIIs, had already made the change to non-ring so I see no reason for even the earliest SX200 to have one. Not even the very earliest of promo shots show any chrome ring examples.
I would question such an example.

Spanish Jets also are stamped SX 200 on the frame and engine but the numbers begin with a 5.The last of the Spanish SX 200's were built from 1980 to 1990 and they were called SX200E,I dont know what the frame number is on them.Italian's changed from SX's to GP's in Jan,Feb of 1969.

It would also be worth checking that the IGM number is IGM 4355 OM and it should be
at the end of the frame number after the last star.
I've seen quite a few dubious frames of late and most of these have had IGM numbers
from different models as people don't realise they should correspond to the model as well
as the prefix number.
I've even seen a TV200 with an IGM number and wrong spacing between the Innocenti
mark and the first star.
There seems to be a lot of it about at the moment

^... I too have come across a ‘genuine’ dealer restored SX200 that had a perfect looking frame, which turned out to have an SX150 IGM number.... with stripping paint back revealed a filled and restamped ‘200’

Here are a couple of pictures one showing the frame number with paint removed, ( it does have the usual Innocenti logo to the left of the SX200)
Sorry but its a photo of a photo
And the other showing the frame ring, which doesn`t look correct anyway. All looks ok

Works for me, the frame stamping looks genuine enough to me but the IGM is not clear enough to be sure. Can you post a pic of the IGM please.
