Some help please !! - Fitting together handlebars and cables in headset etc and when I fit controlo rods they are not protruding far enough to fit the clutch or throttle brass wheels therefore I can not fit the special alignment screw to locate it all in position - rods are 300 mm in length and I think there were 320 mm rods fitted to some models but think they would be too long ----- any ideas or suggestions please ???
Scooter is 1965 li 150 Special
thanks in advance for any assistance you can offer
Alan

It's not clear from your post if you took these handlebars to pieces and have replaced any parts or re-assembling the original parts. If all parts are what you originally had then you have done something wrong during re-assembly. If you have used new parts then I would check these. I have had a new throttle rod that would not fit because bit welded on the end was welded in the wrong place.

Sorry - no it was a box of bits really - al new rods and headset so no I have not stripped it and are trying to do reassemble.
It is the rods with splines and bolt groove near the ends and not the hole/pin type - clutch and throttle wheels are brass copies of original ones - hope this clarifies.... still not been able to figure it out

Sticky says that Li series 3 rods are 312mm in length, the rods on a TV/Special are approx. 298mm in length.

could you just trim a mm or so of the inside edge of the welded on wings , so the rods go further in the throttle and gear change slots giving you a bit more at the brass wheel end .....
