Smiths Rev Counter Conversion Pics

Thought I'd post some pics of my Smiths rev counter conversion. The gearbox came from Gaggs and the side casing was modified by Rimini, I also had to extend the brackets on the exhaust to clear the gearbox. I still need to route cable through crossmember and mount clock but it works a treat. I chose to keep the side casing finish original in keeping with the rest of the scooter and not have it polished or acid dipped.

Nice looking job , I would check the angle drive as the one you have fitted is the plain bearing type which are the 4000 max rev ones , i only use the ball bearing type which are the 7000 rev drive,

Are the gearbox casings both the same size/shape?

yes, I cannot quite see the full markings which indicate the ratio, just to check if that is correct as well ,

RGB1507-1508 series

A range of gearboxes primarily for driving high reving engine, rev counters (tachometers) and designed to run at speeds of up to 7000PRM when fitted with ball race bearings, and up to 4000 RPM with self lubricating bronze bearings. I checked with Gaggs and they said they only sell the ball bearing type and to ignore the part number on it as some of the old boys in the workshop still use the old numbers, so all good :D
