What's the rest of the engine spec' ?

Have you measured the petrol flow ?

Is the breather hole clear ?

I had this issue on my scoot a little while ago, would run great and then just cut out. I had the stator rewired and changed the cdi and all is good now.

Good luck with your diagnosis.

worth checking the breather hole in the filler cap

plenty of fuel and 1 mm hole in fuel cap
ill change cdi first then stater
what you think

sounds like the breather hole to me try blowing through it by looking in the tank you allow air back in the tank and clear the air lock

Don't think it will be breather if it runs for 20m minutes. Sounds electrical to me, CDI or Stator.

Yes deffo change the cdi first and see what it's like.

The very best of luck with it.

LT coil on stator.

This is a common problem that can be an arse to sort.

Try draining a full tank of fuel into a 2 gallon container just to satisfy yourself its not a fuel flow issue. ( Fuel cap in place of course)
To prove the integrity of the LT coil I suggest you connect a digital multimeter set on 250V AC ( or thereabouts ) to the green wire of the ignition and earth. At tickover it should read around 60volts. At 60MPH it should read around 200volts ( maybe leave the toolbox lid open and tape the meter to the inside of the lid). If the volts drop off when the engine dies then here is your problem. More likely to be this than the CDI.

It tells you in Sticky's manual how to do a static test on the stator plate, both LT coil and pick-up.The trouble with this test, especially with the pick-up,is that its not always very reliable because the pick-up can still give a reading even if its brocken because there are two coils and one might be not working.

The resistance test on the LT coil is just as unreliable also. That's why I recommend an active voltage test whilst the scoot is running.

If it is your LT coil, rather than stripping it down and replacing your stator plate, buy a Readspeed Lukas CDI and run it from your lighting coils,it bypasses your duff LT coil altogether.
