I'm going to stick a Ramair pod filter straight onto a Jetex on my Series 2 - I'm not going to use the hose. Has anyone done this and which size fits best pls, 43mm or 48mm?

Difficult to answer a question like that really. If it's a question of performance perhaps you should be looking at a larger carb, because there wouldn't seem to be a lot of point to it otherwise.

I just wanted to know which fits over the carb mouth best, 43mm or 48mm diameter filter? I've ordered a 43mm, I think that should be ok.

I think it would be the 43mm that would fit the best. I had to get a 43mm reducer ring to get a standard GP hose onto a PHBH.

I get that Davla. I'm just not sure what you hope to achieve.

More/better air flow???...A pod filter was one of the cheap upgrades that gave a bit more power in Darrell Taylors 'Bang for Bucks' articles in Scootering some time back. I use a Ramair through an air hose with a 200cc kit on one of my other scooters and it rides really nicely. I'm upgrading to an RT195 on my Series 2 and, seeing as there's more room under the Series 2 panels, I'm dispensing with the air hose and sticking the Ramair straight onto the Jetex. I have Jetex carbs with clubmans on my other scooters and they're cheap and cheerful and run really well despite their bad reputation and it also means that I can dispense with the airbox and put in a long range tank
