Top end problems

Hi guys, following on from my thread "seized piston". I've taken my barrel off and one of my rings was stuck. My piston is slightly scored and so is my barrel. What can cause this and what's the best course of action?

Could be lots of things, my guess is that the drive seal is allowing gear oil in judging by the black oil around the circlips/ pin area. Try cleaning everything up , checking the ring gap in the bore as you have blowby which then heats the sides of the piston. If it's an old motor maybe time for new seals anyway.

Cheers for that. Been thinking about an engine rebuild for a while now anyway. Could be the right time
