Lambretta Contact tester 0517C

Postby Bettagetabrettabolti » Fri Jul 22, 2016 6:21 am

Chaps
I have one of the original tools sold by Innocenti that tests your contact breaker (points to you and I).
Does anyone know where to connect up the two crocodile clips and also have any instruction on how to use it.
Thanks

you have a tool and don't know how to use it ?! ......
just kiddin.

Without a picture or product No I would imagine that what you have is essentially something that tells you when your points are just opening to set your timing.
If that is the case then you'll need to attach one clip to the chassis (or battery negative if you have one) and the other needs to connect to the insulated side of your points

I used to work for a large concessionaires for Lambretta, Yamaha, Suzuki, Kawasaki, Triumph, Norton and BSA in Ipswich when I first left school and the Lambretta ignition tester was in constant use on everything that came in the workshop including the Rickman Matisse race bikes that they sponsored. Johnny XS has the connection correct and from memory there should be a button to push to activate the dial....it was a loooong while ago

Thanks guys - still wearing the shorts in this heat! Not sure how you up load pics onto this site but yes it has a test button and a dial.
It has a picture of the contact tester in the Lambretta Servicemans book on page 71 for those interested but never said how to connect it up.
I will play with it now you have given me a clue and see how I get on.
As always thanks for your help guys
