1955 Model D 150 - Kickstart pedal removal and re-fitting

If I loosen the kickstart pedal and remove it from the splines, will this release the spring, or can the pedal simply be replaced later on in the same position, without the need for any further action?

Removing the pedal will not release the kickstart return spring. You can easily remove and replace the pedal with no problem.
