Hi. i have a 1957 150Ld which i nut and bolt restored a couple of years ago. i dont use it too often. It will only run with the choke on. I have totally stripped and cleaned the fuel tap and carb but still have the same problem. Has anybody any suggestions please?

Plugged idle jet. Modern fuels deteriorate quickly and leave deposits which block small orifices and passages. Make sure you can see through the idle jet when you hold it up to the light.

+1 to that - if the auto advance mechanism (fitted on the later LDs) isn't working properly, it can cause all sorts of problems.

Thanks for all the advice chaps. I went back through the carb and gave all the jets etc a poke with a jet cleaning tool. Bugger now starts and runs better now than it ever has!
