Torque figures

Have just about finished rebuilding my D125 and am wondering if torque figures are available for the engine. I'm concerned about the cylinder head nuts, too little torque will probably give poor compression results, too much may damage the stud fixings in the crankcase - or pull them out. Am having a heck of a problem in starting the engine and want to minimise any air leaks which may affect air/fuel compression by the piston. Higher compression should help starting ?

Torque figures are in Sticky's.
Highly recommend a leak test after the engine build, well worth the time and effort.

Hi Mick, Don't have a copy of Sticky's, any chance you could let me know what they are ?
Thanks.

Unless they're in the new one theirs no info on D's or LD's in sticky's book but if you tighten them in a cross pattern with a socket t bar just don't go mad !! Then get the engine to running temp and nip them up then after about 100 miles just check them and it will be fine

Been a while but I think I torqued my heads to 13 ft/lbs. I did it in stages. First to 5 ft/lbs, then 10 before the final torque.

Thanks for the torque figure info. Problem solved ! When I had a look I hadn't fully tightened up the cylinder head nuts and I had massive leakage through the joint - don't wonder it wouldn't start. Now torqued up and everything OK with starting.
