I've just noticed that there's a book about the A & B (link below). Before I splash out, could anyone who had read the book volunteer their opinions as to its usefulness as an aid to determining the originality of a machine, and its use as a mechanical guide?

Many thanks
Scott

Hi Scott, the book has some history I haven't seen elsewhere but it is not a mechanical aid as such. There are descriptions of why, for example, suspension is not too good and it has pictures of the different light switches fitted to the B. There are no wiring diagrams or explanation of how the electrics work and no pictures of the engine to help with dismantling. The various articles I thought were good and cover the rare sports model B, discussion around racing, someone's wedding and other such history to do with the Model A and B.
The pictures may well help determine the originality of the scooter but there are no parts numbers shown (not yet seen). There is an article about frame nos and their position
Hope that helps

Thanks Nick, that is very useful. I'll now wait until I see it in the flesh before splashing the cash.
Cheers
