I hope I am putting this in the correct place. If not please tell me where to post it. I'm new to forum.
Hi, I am restoring a 1958 LD 150 3. I have it striped down. The engine is off getting restored. I am trying to decide what the next step should be. Need some things welded. Need to have blasted. Perhaps someone could give me a order in which to do things.

I'm sure folk have their own ways but for me.

Examine and strip taking as many detail photos as possible. Ideally bag and label the bits as you go and store them together. Taking it apart is easy (apart from the oxidised nuts, studs, screws and bolts. Remembering how it all goes together on a machine you haven't tackled before can be a challenge. Remembering where you put all the parts can also be mentally stimulating.

Get it all cleaned up - engine degreased - frame, panel-work and tinware blasted or dipped. There's no point trying to do anything if it's got 50 years worth of rust and grime hiding things. If it came from Spain find the complimentary wasp nest and remove.

Strip, inspect and rebuild the engine - this can be done in tandem with the frame etc.

Weld anything that needs welding or modding (excuse the pun).

Drybuild - repair and weld as required. When it's all lined up - strip down again.

Paint

Assemble

Thanks, that's about where I am with the project. As I was taking things apart I noticed a lot of the nuts and bolts are mixed matched. I hope I can get new ones. That may be a challenge. Any resources out there for complete nuts and bolts for the LD?

No bolt kits that I am aware of. Get your old ones replated.

Cambridge Lambretta Workshops sell a complete fixing kit for LC/LD (Part Number : 2-B135) which costs £12.95 plus P&P. It's in stainless steel, but it's out of stock at the moment. Try Patch at Scooter Surgery. He's good for LD. parts.

If you go stainless you have to use copperslip on all the threads as otherwise they can gall and seize.
