Need to replace crank on my LD/3. Is the nut holding the crank on reverse threads? dont want to be turning the wrong way. When I remove this nut the crank should come out right?

The nuts on the flywheel side are normal right hand thread. The nut holding on the bevel gear is left hand thread but you do not take this off to remove the crank. Get yourself a good period workshop manual if you are not sure or find someone to help you. I can't be sure how far on you are from what you say so cannot give better advice

Here is where I am with the job. I do have the six mm nuts loose. the 27mm is the one I am talking about. Is that the one i don't have to remove. How do I get the caseing off to rmove crank. Puller? I hope you can open pic.

The 27mm nut has to come off. The six bolts will also have to come out, and the flange is often very difficult to remove, due to the gasket between the flange & crankcase sticking to both surfaces. Take your time, just don't force anything. If you can get a mag flange puller tool, that helps!

Thanks Steve, Just to be clear, that nut is a reverse thread correct?

That nut is NOT a reverse (left hand) thread, Loosen it anticlockwise.

Thanks Rob, I did figure it out and got it off. I have orderd a mag puller and a rear hub puller to make the job easy and done right.
