LDAVV battery discharge

Postby Bettagetabrettabolti » Sun Nov 22, 2015 8:41 pm

Chaps
I have a problem with my LDAVV. unless I remove the fuse from the scooter it discharges the batteries.
Anyone have any experience of this open circuit or how I can find it?

this is how i find a whats drawing the power, remove the earth lead from the battery to the frame , then get a little electrical tester, the simple one with a small inline bulb, connect the clamp end to the battery lead and put the tip to the battery, the bulb should be off , turn on the key and the bulb should light up, then go to the fuse remove this and bulb should go out if it does replace the fuse, repeat this process with anything related to the electrical system until the bulb stays on when it should go out and you've found the leak, hope that helps.

Hi. Has with any electrical fault it could be anywhere, but I have worked on and restored a few LDA VV scooters, and run one myself, the ignition switch is a problem on this model, The brass contact fingers inside the switch can move to the left or right on there one rivet mounting point, causing your problem, ie shorting out, or corrode due to water ingress. try removing the 12volt power in wire from the rear of the switch, and re test. Or it could be your volt reg. Hope this helps. Good luck finding your problem. Enjoy the scooter. Fantastic touring machine. Off touring Sicily for 10 days, June next year on my LDA VV.
