1955 Model D150 (Version 2) - Rear axle bearing & oil seals

As I am restoring my D150, I want to renew the rear axle bearing and oil seals. Can this be done easily after removing the complete housing (carrying the crown wheel and axle) from the engine casing?

I have already removed the road wheel and the rear hub.

Does anyone have good, detailed instructions, with diagrams, for doing this please, such as a copy of the relevant workshop manual pages?

Should I carry out this work before removing the engine from the frame, or is it easier to do it afterwards?

It can be done in place but why not do it when you have it on the bench? Manuals/repair guides are on ebay. Highly recommended you buy them!

Thanks.
I already have two different manuals covering my model, but the explanations and illustrations are not always very good. Can you recommend one please?

The Lambretta Serviceman's Book, First Edition. It's good but not great... however, it's a good deal better than anything by R H Warring or Raymond Broad! :)

Thanks Steve.
One of mine is the Book of the Lambretta 1947-1957 by R.H. Warring. Not great!
I will try to get hold of the Serviceman's Book you suggest.

Look for an original workshop manual from a dealer. I'm sure they were reprinted. I've got an original one for my mark 2 125d and it's a step by step guide for almost everything on the scoot

Is yours Italian Text? They are the only ones I have come across so far.

I've got an official 80 page Innocenti manual in English for the 1957 Mk3 Ld - it's titled 'Instructions for Repair Shops'. Unfortunately, it seems only to cover maintenance tasks, plus changes from earlier models - like the epicyclic kickstart and the speedo on the handlebars. Maybe there's a version for earlier models which covers the whole scooter in detail.

The one I've got is English, from Trojan works if I remember right

Steve J:
I've now managed to buy a copy of The Lambretta Serviceman's Book, First Edition on Ebay. As you say, it's a good deal better than my R H Warring book.
Many thanks.

No problem - please ask if you need any assistance. I'm just about to start reassembling a 1955 LD engine, so I'll be taking plenty of pics along the way!
