My legshields have sustained some damage on both sides, where the horizontal outer edge starts to turn upwards towards the handlebars, and will need to be panel beaten. ( I am not totally sure that they are the original Innocenti legshields.)

Does anyone have a side view close-up photo of the genuine legshields, which I could compare with mine please, so that I can achieve the correct profile?

The original legshields for a Mk2 LD will have the plastic shield badge on the left-hand side, secured with two screws. Around the outline of the badge, the panelwork is pressed out to give a raised section in the shape of the badge. I'll try & get some photos......

Thanks Steve, but mine is a D rather than an LD, so didn't have that shield badge, just the chrome D150 badge on the right (before I took it off).
It's the bottom of the legshields I'm concerned about. I think that there probably should be a smooth curve from the vertical to the horizontal part, from what I can see on distance photos on the web.

A side view close-up photo at the bottom of the legshields would be very helpful, as well as one looking down on that edge, just to the right, and in line with, the bottom edge of the brake pedal cut-out.

Anyway, here's a couple of images of the Mk2 LD legshields, showing the curve at the front edge - I believe the D legshields are similar at that point, just narrower overall. The legshields belong to one of my projects, and need a bit of work. Not sure if the ragged holes are due to fitting a crashbar, or maybe the scooter had been shot at.......

John - I don't want to hijack the thread, but what's the carb you are using? SH1/20? SH2/22?

SH2/24 (from an early 70s Italian dirt bike)

It sits on a custom manifold attached to a Cambridge Lambretta alloy top end kit with a modified Li crank compressing against a re-profiled 125DL head and a one-off pipe.

Thanks for that - FWIW, I ran my LD150 with a SH2/22 (and "reverse-pull" throttle cable) in the early 1970s. Used a heavily modified manifold and ported barrel with redrilled Li150 head. It ran quite well, but had an unhealthy appetite for crankshaft tapers - consumed cranks at the rate of 1 every 1,000 miles.....

No problems yet, knock on wood. The crank balance factors is wrong though. It's moderately smooth at idle and low rpm but vibrates something fierce at high rpm.

What colour are your legshields and other bodywork on the Model D painted? Is it the Grigio Chiaro/Light Grey (8012)?

It appears there were only two colours used originally on the D150, Sand Beige (8029) and Light Grey (8102). Yours doesn't look beige to me so, if it is a match to an original colour, it looks like the Light Grey.

What was the scooter like when you first owned it? Did you do all the work on it yourself?

I got it as a field bike = very rough shape. It was originally the "Sand Beige" colour but it's not a very attractive colour on the D. I went with the light grey though it was not correct for my 1955 model year. I had a shop do the body work.

I feel the same about the Sand Beige, so I am going to have mine painted Light Grey too - much more attractive.
