1955 Model D150 Version 2 - Pillion seat chromed parts

In Vittorio Tessera's book "Lambretta Restoration Guide", he states that amongst the chromed parts are: Rear saddle spring-tie-bar-cap.

Apart from the obvious spring, can anyone help to identify the other parts he is referring to please? I have a photo of my bare pillion seat but unfortunately the file size is too big to allow me to attach it here.

There is a T shaped piece on mine, with the thicker tube section bolted to the frame at each end, and the thinner tube passing through the spring, and bolted over an end cap. Sadly all these parts are now painted, and will need to be stripped back to bare metal.

The individual parts are not shown in the Parts Manual, presumably because the pillion seat was sold complete as an accessory.

Without knowing which parts were originally chromed, I wonder if he was just referring to the circular cap which fits over the spring, and which has the tie bar passing through its central hole, held in place by a retaining nut? In other words, only the circular spring cap is chromed, he's just added the extra words in an attempt to make it clearer - and failed! I might be completely wrong, but the cap is visible from the rear of the scooter, and chroming it could have added a bit of 1950s bling - in much the same way that the gear selector cover was painted silver.

Sound reasoning, Steve. You could well be right.
The single large spring on the pillion seat is much less visible than the two large chromed springs on the front seat, so just the circular end cap being chromed makes a lot of sense. As you say, the cap can easily be seen from behind the scooter.
Many thanks, Alan.

Many thanks for that photo, John.
Funnily enough, since my previous post I have found several examples where the single horizontal main spring was also chromed, but perhaps this was the personal choice of the owners when restoring.
