Hi
What are people using to connect / pre load the torsion arms ? So you can fit the motor
Any home made tooling or any work around methods ?
I have some books but they all say you have to use the correct tooling
Cheers

The tool is cheap and readily available from D parts suppliers so I would recommend picking one up. I have seen people try to use cinch straps but never happily.

+1 to that - Using the correct tool is the way forward. It's theoretically possible to remove the rear engine buffer to allow the engine to swing back a bit further, connect up the torsion bar linkage and then re-insert the buffer into the engine. You'll need two people to press down on the rear of the scooter to compress the suspension sufficiently to get the buffer into place, and mind your fingers!
