Yes, it is true to say my knowledge of Dell'orto 30 exceeds my knowledge of Windows 10 :-)

Nearly there now - looking very nice.
I love the subtle black and yellow pin striping.

Well, I took a day off to get the old girl an MOT today. There I am, flying along a quiet, but bumpy, road past Vauxhalls in Ellesmere Port when I hear a distinct change in pitch from the exhaust. My initial thought that I'd lost the tailpipe was confirmed when I stopped, albeit that it then took me 5 minutes rooting around to find the damn thing :!:

So, should I (a) turn around and go back home to try again another day [I didn't really want to attract the attention of plod] and, yes, it was noisy as a noisy thing without the aforementioned tail pipe, or (b) carry on regardless, low on revs, and trust that my MOT man will still pass it.

Thankfully, my trust in option (b) was a wise move and I did eventually get home with an MOT :P and a tailpipe in a bag.

Looking on the bright side, this could have happened on the way to Whitby :D

Exactly he same happened to my Franspeed, I managed to weld it up but bought a new one as well (I carried the old one all round Germany last year), you're welcome to borrow my spare one if you want. Happy to weld yours up for you if you want to put it in the post ;)

I'm planning the same. I have ordered a new one, which is now a different design. I'll get this one welded up locally, Col, but thanks for the offer.

Looking at the design of this one, I'm quite surprised it's lasted this long :o

The problem is that the perforated section needs to be about 3mm shorted so that when you bolt it all up it is in compression and isn't able to vibrate up and down.

The only visible signs now that this was once a race scooter are the cutaway and the holes in the headset botom:

Rack on ready for Whitby:

Personally, almost all racks spoil the looks but this set up isn't too bad.
