Looking good mate. Works a pain isn't it, always getting in the way of doing something more interesting.

Big day tomorrow

I need to connect the CDI, fill the gearbox, fill the tank with fuel/oil then...........................

.........try to start it.

I'm rather nervous actually. A bit like losing my virginity.

It lives, it breathes!

About 20 kicks but it starts first kick every time now. The jetting seems really good but I'm definitely not an expert so I'll get someone with more knowledge than me to check it out once it's on the road in a few weeks.

I have to leave the choke off to start it and if I turn the choke on when it's running but still cold it cuts out.

I think this means I need to weaken the mixture with the air screw.

It's a 25mm phbl.

Well it's sort of finished. I've just been for the MOT and it passed.

Have to say that despite renewing every part of the brakes and "uprating" to GP stuff I nearly cacked myself every time I approached a junction! I'm a little too used to modern bikes I guess.

Anyway, I'll send my forms off to the DVLA today and they'll hopefully be back by the time I return from working away next weekend.

It's rather spluttery too as I suspect it's too rich, but that's obviously safer and I won't be doing anything until I've put at least 200 more miles on it.

Clutch is very heavy too. I thought they were just like that but the MOT chap in Motech reckons they're not normally that stiff, so I think I'll try some thinner BGM plates.

The halcyon mirror looks nice in my opinion, but is absolutely pointless

Doesn't it look lovely?

Looks great.
If you keep turning the mirror you should get if set right . There I'd also movement on the glass itself push if down a tad. Best to do this on your drive with your car behind as if it's overtaking mine works a treat.
Cheers Shane.

Brilliant and miles ahead of my 'stalled' TV rebuild.

Looks really nice and very 'summer time', great job done.

The clutch. If is stiff it is unlikely to be the plates. Much more likely the springs and/or cable.

IMO, legshield mirrors from Halcyon are the best. They don't vibrate too much, unlike mirrors attached to the handlebars.

Thanks Storkfoot, normally I'd think the same but it's new cables which I THINK I've routed well. Also the springs are new standard ones for sx200.

My thinking is that if I reduce the load on the springs by Xmm and they have a constant of yN/mm then I'll reduce the effort at the bars by XY/z newtons where z is the lever ratio created by the lever, clutch arm and cam.

Of course I'll also increase the risk of slipping. BUT as I have 5 plates and a motor that'll make 15bhp at best I'm not convinced that is a big risk.

Make sense?

Decided to follow nobby's lead and reverse pull my front drum brake. What a difference! It's not good enough to do stoppies but it's transformed it from something that looks like a brake into something that functions like a brake; which is nice.

I also changed the pos stainless spring between the shoes for an original one which has slightly surprisingly given a MUCH nicer feel at the lever.

Next job is to sort the heavy clutch out;

I've got my V5 back from the DVLA now and I'm working in Holland.

I need to order a number plate so that it arrives before I get home and can go out and play.

I need to know what size number plate I need for a six digit plate to fit on the back of a series 3 LI. Anybody help with dimensions and a fast/cheap/quality service for a black and silver aluminium pressed.
