I recently purchased this little lovely through Lambretta Finder Sam, he provided a top notch service and I highly recommend using him. I sent all the relevant paperwork off to the DVLA with a speedily supplied LCGB dating certificate (thank you Rich'), which was straight forward enough, and just had an 8am visit from their vehicle inspector, so next step should be ordering a number plate. Someone has had a bit of a play with it fitting new cables etc then seems to have lost interest. I'm going to keep it pretty much as it is apart from fitting a promising little TS1 that I picked up from ROClarke on here.... Happy days

Paintwork looks in very good condition for its age and it looks pretty straight.

Is it ‘61 or ‘62, out of curiosity?

Thank you both. It is nice a straight, dates to 1960, and while someone has painted parts of it many years ago, most of it is original it is still very usable.

Thank you everyone, the bodywork will pretty much be kept as is. May need to upgrade the front brake but going to try a reverse pull set up first, and will see how I get on with the single saddles.

Dickie, you're right I'm not doing badly

People are always concerned about the possibility of the cam going over-centre if you reverse- pull a drum brake. I think this is valid, personally, due to the extra force you have, as compared to a standard set up.

It's the best brake I've ever had though by some margin. Although I've never had a hydraulic external disc. You just need to keep on top of inspection to make sure you have plenty friction material left on the shoes.

On two separate scooters I have set up reverse pull drums. Whilst riding around locally and to the odd rally in this country they were fine on a GT186. But, I took both scooters abroad in hot conditions. Both times, I got significant brake fade when the shoes got too hot. I don’t like to think about what would have happened if I had been forced into making an emergency stop.

I built a Stage 4 200 in a S2 Li125 last year. I have put a Vietnamese internal disc on mine, reworked original actuator, replacement vented disc (still a Vietnamese one as, at the time, I couldn’t get the Italian one) and sintered pads.

Other than the pads squealing when braking at low speeds, it stops well. The acid test will be this year when I put many more miles on my Series 2.

Thanks Dickie and Storkfoot, good info there. Have had a reverse pull previously and it was better than the factory disc. The thing I don't like with the internal disc set ups, even if hydraulic, is the smaller discs compared to the external type. There is going to be braking power lost with the smaller diameter type.

Nearly there with Number 4, as it is now known. V5 received after the pretty much pain free registration process, and number plate ordered from Tippers.

Collected the side panels today after having some sign writing done.

The TS1 which I shall be using has had an an Ex-Box ST fitted, after remembering that the Quattrini and TS1 manifold angles are different of course! So I need a new down pipe to match (thank you Ron for supplying that), and a mid-range tank from Kev Fox (cheers mate) to be fitted to keep the TS1 supplied for a reasonable amount of miles.

Not long now.
