My 1961 Series 2 Li150 Eibar

Thought I would show my Series 2 li150 Eibar. Recently acquired at a really good price that I couldn't refuse.
It looks better in the pics but it's very solid it just has a lot of dents in the panels.
The plan is to strip it completely, repair the dinged bodywork cover with acf50 and rebuild it with a Ts1 225 motor.
I've got a really nice sx200 casing, sx200 gearing and a decent ts1 top end with a 34mm mikuni carb and a Ron Moss clubman exhaust.
The motor needs building but I'm hoping it will all be completed this year.

Thanks.
I've got to say it's the first series 2 and Spanish Lambretta I've owned or been near and the quality of the metal is far better than the dl150 I've got, this is just so solid, the nuts and bolts arent made of cheese either!

agree with Toddy here, if you're going for the rustoration then you're already doing too much.
Sort engine, recable, new tyres and tubes. The only thing I would add is to rebuild the forks as they'll almost certainly need doing.
Doing the above will show what else actually needs doing from a mechanical point of view eg doing the tyres etc will show if / what needs doing front brake wise, doing the recabling and dropping the forks will get you in the headset anyway to see if anything needs doing there too eg replace headlight glass / speedo etc.
But total strip to sort the dents? a) it's unnecessary work and b) fixing the dents is against the idea of a true rustoration in my view.

I don't think straightening some of the panel work will detract from how it will look when complete.
The rearboards are so bent the runners won't fit properly, and the front turning mudguard is interfering with the frame due to the misshape. I think this essential work that needs doing.

I agree with you about the build quality with Eibars, I've got 1 & it's feels more solid than Italian ones. Yours is ace, more do if you got it for a good price. Do what you want to go with but agree with the mechsnical advice, especially if it's going all TS1.
I love that seat too, if you are thinking of changing it, it's bite your arm off (metaphorically)!

Hi Mickey , yeah I'm very impressed by the Eibar.
I have removed the side panels, cleaned them up and treated the rust and polished them with acf50. They've come up really nice without losing patina.
The Horncastle has been done aswell.
I've managed to straighten the edges of the legshields myself using two adjustable spanners doing a little bit at a time. I will just clean them up and again cover them acf50 that's all that's needed with them.
The rearboards and front guard do need straightening but that's all.
I've collecting some bits for the build.
Bgm slimline dampers
Rear shock
Spanish sx200 casings
Sx200 gearing
Gp mec crank
Mikuni 34mm carb
Ts1 barrel, head redbrick and Bgm piston.
Bgm mounts
Bgm cables.
Ron Moss clubman exhaust
I just need to look into a good 12v system and flywheel
Digital speedo
Decent wheels and tyres
Front hydraulic brake system.
Then find somebody who can help me build the motor.

Hi bud, i've got a '62 and love it. They're much nicer than the italian with the turning mudguard. Whoever designed the S2 mudguard must have had a bad day.
I cant see but if the speedo is salvageable keep it, theyre like hens teeth. I couldnt find one for mine so had to get an italian one re-furbed. Jem Booth does a great job. Your scooter pal but i woulnt put an electronic speedo on. Mine almost matches GPS speeds since Jem sorted it.
Beautiful scooter tho - you'll love riding it, different to S3's

Hi.
Cheers.
Yeah it's got the original speedo, the glass has smashed and it's a bit dirty but apart from that it's good. I will get Jem booth to look at it.
Cheers
Kris

So the dating letter came back today and it's a 1961 not a 1960.

Donnie and Toddy,
You were both right.
I've taken the rearboards off and just straightened them myself with a hammer and adjustable spanners. They are straighter without looking too straight and false.
I've given them good clean and oiled them, they look great.
Still learning, so thanks for the advice.

Legshields off today, cleaned and oiled and put with my parts pile.
I'm having a bit of a dilemma, the original plan was to put in a ts1 motor but I'm fighting with the decision to hack off the battery tray, it kind of goes against the grain a bit.
Maybe the original motor with a gt186 would be a better sympathetic decision.

Nice idea. 60/110 crank. Bgm clubman. I'd have done the same to mine but I just didn't want two motors the same.
Still haven't managed to get myself to cut the battery tray off yet though!

Maybe an add on?, seems original.
Mine has a strange ignition too, maybe homemade?
