My new Lambretta li150 1961 series 2.

British registered from new in Birkenhead Liverpool, buff log book, original keys number plates and original nice extras.

Any details on selling dealer? I'm interested as that's my home town.

Oh, by the way, people have been strung up for saying Birkenhead is in Liverpool

The Dealer was Llewellyn's and Co Ltd. Hamilton Street.

And the first 3 owners all lived in Birkenhead.

I have seen the name, possibly in old scooter magazines from the 60s. I'll see what I can find out. They weren't around in the late '70s and I have no recollection of any motorcycle dealers in Hamilton Street.

I'd be interested if you could find out anything. I've got family in the wirral, Liverpool and Birkenhead.

If it were mine I'd rebuild engine with a nice torquey kit, clubman, and rebuild the brakes, suspension. You know the general idea.

It's dreadfully slow, but very smooth and rides nicely. I think I will put a kit on it in the winter.

I'm very pleased with it. It's just been mot'd and really doesn't need for anything. Off out on it tonight to a little meet.

I haven't found out too much about Llewellyns other than it was a Kawasaki dealer at some stage. I know the building it was in too as I used to work over the road. It is now a housing association.

I Googled it and couldn't find any old pictures which was a shame.

I might contact a few of the original owners they may be still around to see if they have some old pictures.

Just a little update on this, after riding it to a meet and around town I discovered it's painfully slow. I replaced the exhaust thinking the original one could be blocked but putting on a Scootopia Ancillotti has made no difference to performance at all.

I think the motor will have to come and be rebuilt, I've got two options for this.

Remove the motor and rebuild it straight away retaining the points or maybe go for 12v

Or I have a fully rebuilt Spanish sx200 motor, full electric kit and a stage 4 Indian top end I could put in. Then maybe store the original motor and rebuild it next year when I have more time.

Not sure what to do.

Hi Kris - I really like this scoot.

If it were mine I'd put the larger engine in and enjoy it for the summer, and then take your time in rebuilding the original one ready for next year....

That's what I'd have done with mine if I had a spare good engine...

Cheers Steve, it is a nice one. I've managed to get a period 60's rear Ulma Carrier for it which I'm going to put on tomorrow once I've scraped the matt black off it. Lol

I think I will look at putting the 200 motor in it, I've got an old Ron moss clubman exhaust too for it so it should go quite well with a 28mm Dellorto.

Please don't touch it as its originality is so good it will be worth more to you.
Get a cheap Indian GP and put in a fast engine hut with that provenance you have a very rare scoot in your possession..

Yeah I do accept what your saying and that's why I'm finding it hard to remove the engine and replace it, but I need to enjoy the scoot and at the moment it's awful to ride as it barely gets over 30mph.

I really do think the best course of action is to replace the motor and enjoy it, whilst I'm rebuilding the motor slow time and sympathetically.
