Last winters project

Postby carlos fandango » Sun Jul 13, 2014 12:11 am

I brought this S1 last autumn as a winter project
Image
A 58 frame breather, VERY straight, and all of the important bits there.
I had an idea of the look i wanted, something like this.
Image
When i saw how straight the bodywork was, it gave me the idea to do it bare metal, with a clear finish.
Now, i make furniture, and had a contract to make some tables with metal bases. When i went to collect the bases from my fabricator they had linished the welds , which they were not supposed to have ! So i sent a pic to the designer to see what they wanted me to do ?
Image
Anyway , this gave me an idea :D and i had a play about with the angle grinder :D

I was quite impressed by the results (after a few attempts) and have never seen a scooter done like this before. After it was clearcoated it looked TOO shiney :? so i thought a bit of colour would tone it down, and add another twist to it.

Ill post a few more pics tomorrow :D

Ooh I'm getting close now :D

Just got to wire it up, and bolt a few more bits on. I'm still short of a few bits , front lamp, horn grille and choke lever, so I've had to rob them of my other s1 :( for the time being.
I got it all cabled up this afternoon. Is one thing I've been concerned about, as the gear change is a bit experimental, and I wasn't sure if it would work . So far so good .....but I haven't ridden it yet :?

I'll have a look cheers Paul, the bars are a work in progress , and will change over the next few months. I had been looking at inverted levers , but needed a bit of thinking about , so I may do them over the winter.
I've also been playing about with some Perspex and a blow torch , to make a screen but not happy with it yet and not to sure on the shape I want yet :D
The seat I've borrowed off a mate (thx Hong Kong phooey) but It needs to be an all black one I think . Ideally I want an ld saddle but want it moveable, so the seat will be changed as well :D
