Helical insert

Guys, Im rebuilding a dl150 and have a question regarding the threads on the horn cast.
They are a bit worn but will probably clean up with a re-tap.
But should i not bother and just go straight to the step of inserting helical inserts?

Personally, I wouldn't unless the threads are really bad. If they strip, it's dead easy to add a helicoil at any time, but if you somehow damage them while doing it, it's not a home job, for me anyway.

But it's pretty hard to say without having it in your hands.
