VIBRATION

I have been riding my 1968 125 Special for 10 years or more but after a recent 1100 mile trip round France found my hands and upper arms were going numb due to vibration. I have recently fitted a damper kit on the front, with new springs in the forks and new engine block rubbers (the big ones) and the vibration is worse.....!!!......Is there a problem or do I have to do something else to get a smoother ride ...????....ideas...???

If you've fitted Scootopia engine mounts ....Dump them ...hard as hell ...

Thank you for replying, apologies for not getting back to you.
No I didnt fit escort ones...........Had some more work done recently and still have the same problem.
Had a new crank, bearings and sills
New nylons in the head set
New front hub wheel bearings
Funny thing was i changed the rear shock and it halved ??.....which has now led me too looking at a new rear shock......done a bit of research .....what to get ....BGM Protech .?
Any advice good or bad

Postie, I don't think you understood Andy's comment, he asked if you had fitted Scootopia engine mounts (silent blocks) as these have a known vibration problem. Even if they aren't Scootopia ones, it would be worth checking that they haven't collapsed and that they were installed with the holes in the correct position. Also, you don't say much about your engine, some reed inlets have clearance issues with the frame and need offset engine pivot cones. It is possible that the rear shock is contributing as any mechanical connection between the frame and engine is capable of transferring vibration but I doubt if your problem has anything to do with your headset or front dampers.

Looking at it from a different angle, are you sure it is the scooter? I also suffer from my hands/fingers going numb but this is a touch of Carpel Tunnel Syndrome which I also get when cycling and frequently have to shake my hands to get feeling back....just a thought
