So...

Firstly - what are the measurements on one of these big word wotsits called?

Secondly - what one of them thingy measurements = 6 psi?

Thirdly - is a thingy leakage of 160 - 150 in 55 seconds acceptable? Feckin' hope so, otherwise the sidecasing is coming off...

With many thanks & how did my 1980's overnight Discharge/newcastle brown etc fueled overnight engine builds ever make it to Yarmouth etc & back...?!

The measurement is usually in mmHg millimeters of mercury.

100mmHg is 1.93 PSI

That sounds a lot in 55s

 I don't know about your engines Andy, I'd like to know how you survived! :P

I think around 200mmHg is the generally accepted measurement to use and I'd be looking for a leak with that drop, sorry mate

Thanks chaps.

Not what I wanted to hear, but definitely what I needed to hear...

Right back on the kitchen table then (the garage is way too dark)

It's all a well useful learning experience... Ta again :)

OK following some further research here's what I've learnt...

1 mm of mercury = 0.0193368 pounds force per square inch

So 260 mmHg = 5.027568 psi

Having pressured up to 260 mmHg (no bubbles anywhere) I lost 10 mmHg (0.193368 psi) in 21 seconds & 20 mmHg (0.386736 psi) in 1.5 mins which I'd like to think is acceptable... (?)

With thanks to all who've helped, pm's always gratefully received!
