Carb rubber

Postby shane BBoys » Sun Nov 10, 2024 4:02 pm

hi.
Not long ago I opted to reduce the size of my carb on my out of the box TS1 it had a TMX 35 now 30, with what I believe to be a stage 6 reed block, any how I've covered quite a few hundred miles with no issues until the other week when I set off for Brid and soon found that the carb rubber was split this was an MB shorty I believe, 60mm space to bolts stamped MB. I ordered 2 x BGM fitted everything back then 20 or so miles in to todays ride off popped the carb, again swiftly nipped back up and on the ride back another 15 miles it most have popped of 3 or 4 times!
My questions are, is the BGM shorter than the MB the reason I ask this is I think it is now catching the bottom rib on the tank? Anyone else had this issue? do you think the CASA off set bar n cones help?

Note I have off set cones in already.

Cheers Shane.

It had crossed my mind I will investigate when I am next at home. So when i got home last night ( 16.11.24) I jumped in the garage only for 2 mins, the tank seams solid but I will get more time at next weekend too fully investigate.

I managed to get in the garage for 20 mins today, the tank fixing are solid an no movement, my rear shocker was set really soft I do not know why unless I had somehow knocked it. I have picked up a CASA engine bar and will be fitting this next weekend when I clear some space however there is over 10mm clearance above and behind the carb so defo not catching, there is a hose on the left of the carb that is very close to the mount so I have ordered an angled spacer to fit behind the carb rubber.
I will report back on my findings.

The latest update is. 1.12.24
I have now got around 5 mm clearance of the hose on the LH side which I presume is the power valve, I will still fit the angled spacer when it arrives though. 1 thing I did find however and this might be the reason for the carb popping off is my shocker was set V soft so there was a lot of bounce, I have adjusted so it is now a lot more firm it is a Protech I can only presume that I had knocked the adjuster knob?

Cheers Shane.
