VHSH 30mm choke operation

Hello, can anyone tell me where to look to check that the choke is operating as it should. On the phbh, there was a clear view of it at the front. I can't see it on the VHSH. Sorry if it's just me being unable to see something obvious.

I have never had a VHSH so can’t answer. But, I have had a carb before, either Mikuni or Keihin, where you could see the choke operating from the engine side.

Presuming that your carburettor has a cable operation, with your hand at the carburettor end, you should be able to feel by hand the cable inner moving between the on & off positions when operating the control lever.

Next is to establish that ‘off’ at the control end is actually ‘off’ at the carburettor end. If there is any adjustment in the cable, slacken off until there is some play. Now, you should be able to see that slack taken up as the control lever is operated.

If all is well with that procedure, the cable can be adjusted so only a tiny bit of slack remains & all should be good.

Cheers for that. It turns out that you can see the plunger in the off position through the tunnel on the front left of the carb bellmouth and adjust the cable tension, as you say, to get it to operate as it should.
