over active engine

I have a series 3 can't get it run properly it starts ok but when I leave it to idle it just revs out of control

Well that's not the best introduction for a first post but it sounds like you have got a major air leak somewhere. Carb' rubber, Inlet manifold, Exhaust manifold etc etc.
