Could someone be kind enough to tell me what changing a slide would do?
I need to start thinking about setting my carb up as I am just about run in.I find that I need to slip the clutch a bit to get going.Tickover is good.

The bigger the number the higher the cutaway on the front so a 40 is a leaner slide than a 30.

A leaner slide will make the carburation leaner across the entire rev range i.e. More air gets in.

According to the DellOrto manual, the slide cut away only affects the carburation over the first quarter of throttle opening. It is the first part of progression after coming off the idle circuit.

Having spent most of Sunday playing carburettors, I found that the slide cut away seemed to make the least difference of any component that I changed.
