Can anyone help ? A strange one I know but I have a 1965 LI 125 which I'm told has been bored out to a 225 (I don't think so) but she has a Dellorto PHBH30 carb with open bellmouth. It does spit out but sometimes the scoot just won't start. However if I place a latex glove open the bellmouth and kick her twice she tries to fire. I remove the glove and within 4 kicks she starts. Is this weird, is it just me or has anyone encountered anything similar and sussed it out ? The latex glove thing I discovered by accident......honest !! Help.... anyone regards theoldmodcon (thanks for listening)

Have you checked if the Choke is working on the Carb is it the cable or Flip type ?

It's a relatively new carb with a cable choke. She'll never start with the choke and if running and the choke is switched on she instantly cuts out !

With respect, the best thing you could do to help the Forum in helping you, is to post back on here all the sizes of:

Choke jet
Pilot jet
Main jet
Slide
Atomiser
Needle & clip position
Number of turns out of the adjust screw

While you’re @ it, you may as well state the float needle valve size & float weights as a check.
If there’s anything I’ve forgotten to suggest, it will soon be mentioned by A N Other.....

I would start by removing carb and give it a nominal clean through first of all,then electrical earths,and so if it ran before it should run the same set up,if that makes sense,happy riding

Cheers Guys. I've replaced the tank with a brand new stainless one. The old one was full of clag (it is 51 years old after all). I've cleaned the carb out and re-jetted to the original spec. Just needs slight tweaking but she's now running sweet Regards theoldmodcon

rejetted to the original spec? be very careful.... do plenty of plug chops to check that you are not running weak...
