MPG

Can anybody give me a rough idea on the sort of MPG I should be getting from my SX186 Mugello, 28mm Phbh open carb and (wait for it) a reverse cone vw exhaust.
I have worked out that yesterday on the way back from the WOT rally I was getting approximately 43 mpg :o riding at no more than 50mph.
Just wondered if it sounds right ?

PS: I apologise to anyone and everyone who seemed a little surprised by my anti social exhaust - certainly meant the car drivers heard me coming

That's similar to what I get on my Avanti. 35mm Mikuni, Franspeed race with 4.8 final gearing and 25+ stone with gear on board :o

I have noticed that headwinds and hills can make a very big difference, even getting down to 30 mpg in some cases (headwind, continuously up-hill, on an Autobahn in Germany). Likewise I've had over 50mpg with a tailwind......

I get just over 40mpg running a Mugello 185 with a 26mm PHBH and a 42mm Ancilloti all strapped inside an totally un-aerodynamic Spanish S2 :D This is nearly half what I get from an iron barrelled 175 with a 20mm carb but probably twice the fun on longer rides

I guess it sounds about right then, it was set up on the dyno at Diablo a couple of years ago.

Thanks for the replies guys.
