Return of the Jetex

After throwing away the top for my Mikuni by accident, or more correctly- stupidity. I've had to re fit my old 22mm jetex. The problem I seem to have is excess fuel spit back. I don't recall it doing this previously and the main is 118 with a 50 and (atomizer??).
Does it sound like the float is sticking open? It also runs like a bag of crap, and will only tick over with a lot of revs.
Any ideas chaps?
Cheers

There are loads of threads on this. I fitted Delly jets to mine and ran a small drill through the float.

My eBay 15.99 Mikuni carb arrived today, fired up second kick and ticks over great.
It's a 28mm and probably a copy, but it sure makes a difference compared to the medieval Jetex.
