Hello,
I have 2 of the aforementioned carbs and i was wondering, did they ever make them with and without the "nipple" on the fuel banjo bit
As you can see from the picture i have, is it a simple case the nipple has broken off? it doesnt look like it to me and there is no marks or signs to suggest something was there
Any thoughts?

yeah they made them with both
its an alignment nipple, just make sure you locate your inlet banjo correxctly with your 'nipple' less one

Spanish carbs didn't have a nipple.
