Is the A/F 5 speed gearbox fussy about layshaft type?

It didn't like my Spanish S2 one as it was a bit short

Fitted one for a mate in his RB20
Short as yours m8, layshaft origin unknown ??

The new AF layshaft is very good, ideal for their 5 speed and good value, particularly if purchased with the close 5. Oh and they're not 50yr old!
