I'm a fan of the drum brake as well, that's why it interested me.
The connecting bar is a tie rod with a rose joint at each end.

Interesting stuff, I'm always looking at ways to improve the performance of front drum brakes. Be interesting to see how durable the set up is after a while on our knackered and pot-holed roads.

I had to remove the reverse pull on a drum brake with gp cam because the drive was so severe. I guess this would have meant I could have kept it.

However, I tried it again on my current bike with LI cam and it's excellent. Definitely better than my onboard hydraulic.

With a well set up front brake & stout cable, the TV175 S1-S2 drum was @ least the equal of a cable operated disc.

Both needed reverse pull to work well.

Nowadays, better pads are available which IMO gives the cable operated disc the edge, especially as there is more 'feel' than with a drum. However, the building of a good front brake must be meticulous.

Given the choice of a road machine with cable operated brakes, I'd sooner the disc than the drum, particuarly in the wet. As I have a TV175 S2 drum brake (& the links as well!) I actually have the choice.

Having tried anti-dive set-ups, I do not buy into the concept. I have yet to witness any advantage on the track, although the anti-dive front tyres appear more sh@gged after a race! I'm sure that it's all swings & roundabouts as dive does allow the suspension to be loaded going into a corner, thus sharpening the steering, whereas anti-dive does not, should that be the preference. The strange thing is that SS90's had neither disc or anti-dive yet they could out-brake virtually any Lambretta.....

The last hydraulic anti-dive set-up I tried lacked so much feedback that I felt it dangerous, so the owner agrees that it should be changed. So I will keep an open mind

Must admit I fitted anti dive to my hydraulic disc set up. Did one rally and removed it, couldn't get away with "feel"
Just thought it was interesting.
