Avanti ST / GP panel unclipping

Postby Leotech » Thu Feb 27, 2025 12:38 pm

I just fitted an ST version with the end can to my GP, first bump I went over the tail can bracket unclipped the panel and if it wasn't for my cat like reflexes catching the panel it would have been down the road. It wasn't any big pot hole either, it was a small trench like thing. It happened about 2 miles into the first test!

Has anyone come up with a solution for this? I've not really looked yet but before I start just thought I'd ask.

Shocks ok but it’s only an Escort or similar. Might try a s2?shock for starters.

The tail can goes under the kick start, the tail can brkt hangs down off two of the far west casing studs, so in reality the exhaust shouldnt cause you any problems :?

I got a shock with adjustable pre load thread and wound it all the way down, The shock wont travel far enough now to unclip the panel even when I press hard on the back end.

I still need to go and hit some big holes I know locally and hopefully not loose my panel.

if you remove the rear shock completely and let the back end down so that mudguard sits on the tyre, does the panel / bracket foul?
