Hi I'm also thinking along the lines of giving this a go. Just a couple of questions if i may
Do you have to have a battery in this conversion? The question is asked in the topic but doesn't get answered. I don't wish to use a battery.
How would you connect a sat nav? I'm using a mod charger for this from the dc output on the standard regulator
Are there any updates on this project? It's been a while since the original and i was wondering how the modified units have been performing?
I'm no electrician so any help simplified would be fantastic

There's a far easier way to do the wiring now so no need to remove the resin Dave.I've done a few for mates but all using batteries either fitted in a tray in the standard toolbox or under the spare cut out on long range tanks. You don't need a big battery something small like 4 amp does the job especially if using LED bulbs.Whether a capacitor could be used I'm not sure although I've used them to stop SIP speedos resetting on AC systems. As for reliability,I've not had any problems with the ones done and it's just a case of using the MB switch that has a live output on the 1st click(ignition) to connect ancillaries.

What’s the alternative method without removing the resin?
Thanks
