It's essential to know what gearing you're running to be able to answer that.

Gearing is late S3 125 with 16t front sprocket, so 5.3:1 in top. The crank is 60/110 and I am currently using a 30mm PHBH carb. I have a fresco fitted at present which is shaking itself to bits, however I may modify the mountings and stick with it. She will touch a genuine 70 (GPS) and will run all day at 65, climbing your average hill with little impact, even with a fat git like me on board. She grumbles a bit around town, but was always intended for use on longer runs. I was thinking a Taffy might work well, but was hoping there's some experience of different pipes out there.

What packer/head gasket have you used for the 60/110 crank?
Sorry for the offtopic.

I set it up with the transfer about 0.7mm above the piston, I had to use a 4mm packer which is bigger than you would expect, but I had tidied up the casing.

Thank you, I'm building a similar one (RT195 , 60/110)
I have 3mm and 2mm packers plus a 2mm head gasket.
Back on topic ;)

Short gearing [I'd consider 5.3 as short gearing] usually means that you run out of revs so needs to be mated with a revvy exhaust like a Franspeed race, etc. Tall gearing [4.8 and below] curbs the enthusiasm of the engine to rev [unless you've got monster bhp which I'm presuming an RT 195 hasn't] so is better suited to a torquey low revving exhaust like a Taffy or an ADS3. If you go with a Taffy then you should [in theory] be able to drop the gearing to around 5.00 and still go up hills in 4th. I'd go with the Franny race and have more fun.

Unless you own a taffy you will struggle to get a genuine one. The copy's work different to the genuine. Another option is the franspeed supertourer. Bags of torque with more rpm than a Taff. 8000 I think.

Has anyone tried a Franspeed pipe with an RT kit, on a similar set up?

I have supertourer with a Muggy 186, loads of torque. Can't recommend it enough. Its working with a 28mm carb and Kytronic ignition unit. Nice smooth power delivery.

Thanks for the info Pete, I ran exactly the same set-up as I'm running now on a 186 Muggy and got great results. I've now bought a Supertourer. I'm getting the stub modified for 4 bolt and sending the expansion away for ceramic coating, I'll post an update when I have fitted her.

Im using a jl3 snail on a rt200, with li125 box 17/46 sprockets - giving a 4.83 final ratio (sx200 ish ), on a fat s1 and I weight about 13 stone, Pulls that ok , I haven't tried any other exhausts to compere it to tho

Edit- as others have said 60/110 3mm packer with 2mm head gasket - 1.3 squish.
68 mph on gps (when running in!, so might have loosened up now)

With a 3mm packer (in my case) the piston crown was below the exhaust port at BDC,
I had to grind the exhaust port

The RT195/Supertourer combination is not good as a plug and play option. The barrel will need some exhaust port tuning to make this work in terms of power spread and fuel/air mixture.

I'm now using a BGM Clubman, making about 18 BHP and that's where I'm staying for the summer!

My rather gorgeous ceramic coated Supertourer will have to hang on the wall until the right top end comes along!

How does it perform with that set-up? How it rides is far more important than "pub BHP figures".
18 BHP at 6,000 rpm probably a superior ride to 30 BHP at 8,500 rpm

I had some fun and games with my RT kit.
After I got a few miles on it had a dyno done (guy knew nothing about scooter but \I just wanted an idea of jetting), came out at 15bhp but topped out at 54mph and wouldn't rev out, not reaching 6k. Tried it on the road, same. That was with a PM pipe.
Swapped for Clubman , and it reached 6,000 revs but wouldn't pass 64mph. Same with a Taffy copy I borrowed.
I then took a chance and bought a BGM Clubman and it freed up more revs and I've had just shy of 70mph (GPS).
Nice to ride , but maybe a tweak or two to the jetting and I may swap the 58mm crank to 60mm. Other than that I'm fairly happy.

I'm in the same place, RT195 with a 60/110 crank, looking at gearing 4.8-5 and need a pipe.
I have an MB clubman on my Rapido 225 so looking for something else that would work on either engine.
MB site suggests the DevTour works with this set up, has anyone tried one or its nearest equivalent.

Just found an interesting thread on scooterotica where they used a Taffy copy on RT195 with 30mm Dellorto.
Is that the taffy copy you sell corrado?
