PHBH Needles

Postby coaster » Sat Apr 16, 2016 1:07 pm

Just playing with my carb settings at the moment on mu TS1/30PHBH/Franspeed Supertourer as the hand choke is not having the 4 stroking effect that it used to :? I currently have an AV266 with x7 on the 2nd clip from the top. I also have an x2 and an x13 but I'm not sure which is richer. Information on the net is contradictory :?

Cheers

That's what I Peach but there are some contradictory websites out there so thanks for confirming. Do the needles HAVE to be paired with specific atomisers?

No it's not essential but common pairings are

X7 - AV 262
X13 - AV 264
X2 - AV 266

I think I cracked it with the needles, I'm now realising that the length measurement refers to the length of the taper not the length of the whole needle

There's some valuable info on the Bristol Lambretta website.

... or the other way around:

X7 with AV266
X13 with AV264
X2 is the next getting richer but I've never used one so have no experience of atomiser combo.

NB: ^... These are typical combos, not hard and fast rules! You should combine them as per the needs of your motor, rather than use the suggestion as more that a starting point. Also note that I've found many needles to be very different in reality from what the spec sheets say they should be, e.g. all of these needles should have the same shaft diameter and tip diameter (only taper length varies), however, I've found that they can vary on the shaft diameter can be either bigger or smaller than specified, meaning that atomiser requirement may vary.

Best of luck.
