Head keeps blowing - advice please

Annealing is making the metal softer by heating up, in the case of copper until cherry red. After this the metal gradually age hardens as the molecules rearrange themselves to their natural state. This process will be speeded up by working the metal... I knew the cse would come in handy one day...!
