I've gone for a GT186 kit with 30mm phbh and a JL3.
I'm waiting to see how Donnie and shamrock express get on with their gearing before I decide on chains and sprockets.

I think you've made a wise choice.

However, just because you've had no response to your questions:

Also would the series 1 side case be up to the job and will the standard throttle wheel have enough travel to open the carb fully?

Don’t take a chance on the crankcase cover if you are referring to the thought of upgrading your kick-start area to cope with any rise in compression. I've broken SII & SIII covers so pay heed to my mistakes!

Sticky’s excellent ‘bible’ covers it in detail.

As for the throttle pulley, 30 mm carburettors & above need a modified gear-change pulley/headset or equivalent, IMHO.

Hi not sure if this has been said already but if you have the GT kit you would benefit from a 16 t front cog with the Li150 box as it is quite a torquey little kit and will pull this gearing no problem.(unless your 30 stone etc )

I've got an SIL chain case cover knocking about so that'll probably go on then.
Had been thinking 16/46 but will see what the feedback from the others is before splashing out on anything. My bank account needs to recover a bit first, despite getting a good deal from Mr Corrado on the kit.
I'd guestimate size wise I'm somewhere in between donnie and shamrock express.
