You may be saying that these were made to suit their alloy barrels, but they also suited other barrels, subject to ensuring the correct clearances etc. In fact, I was under the impression that they were only for use in cast iron bores & not plated ones, so just wanted to make sure we are talking about the same thing here
Anyway, on that basis, I believe they were/are a good piston.
Although the 66 mm piston I have was only used for very few racing miles in a tuned Rapido barrel, it stood up to that punishment well, so I consider them more than adequate for a road going engine.
