Just got one of the new AF double row hub bearing to go with my AF clo5e, I notice the bearing has a seal in both ends, do you need to remove the internal one to allow the bearing to be lubricated.
Can’t seem to get through to AF Rayspeed to ask them.

This bearing has a double Labryinthe seal. No need to mess with it.
Just make sure that your gearbox breather plug is free breathing.

I have run one for a short period with both seals intact, and it has been fine.

Much less friction than the usual garter seal.

I've just bought one of these. So no lubrication needed.

Correct. Keep both seals in place.

Old thread I know 8-)
Using one of these bearing in a new build engine
Has anyone had any issues with any failures?
Rear brake was canny but not crap
“ this is a full new engine build with breather pipe type used & an extra one added using a drilled m6 stud & pipe fitted on one of the gear pivot posts “
Havent inspected yet but I’m expecting oil on brake shoes
Cheers
