Hi

Has anyone had an expansion chamber ceramic coated?
If so was it worth it?

Not had an expansion done but a clubman, main body is very durable but main downpipe did suffer a bit.

I spent a fortune having an NK done for my TS and it did not last.
Cheers Shane.

I'm running four Lambrettas with ceramic coated exhausts, 2 standard (Tutto GP/dl) and 2 clubmans. All look immaculate after many klicks.

For silver pipes my preference is Cerakote Glacier Silver.

I heard from someone who had it done recently that it was £185 for an expansion exhaust from Camcoat Warrington . It was still unused at the time so no feedback on longevity though .

Hard to do a comparison - as its all about milage not time

Bloke who goes on sunday ride outs once a month is going to see different results to lad doing the championship

3 or 4 of us all had it done to BGM clubmans at Camcoat - we got about 2 years out of it before it started looking tatty. I got the u bend redone FOC as it had failed

Prices have also gone up signifcantly too - was only £100 cash when they 1st did them.

They do look good when 1st done - but funamentally dont cope well with the temperatures for some reason. I'd steer clear - definatley not worth the £150++ they charge now. Thats a lot of exhaust paint

I get mine nickel plated for £50. Last forever but with some "bluing" at the hot spots. But the pipe needs to be completely unused.

There's also a chap near me that does "high temp powder coat" for £20 inc blasting. No idea if that's any good as I haven't ridden the bike it's on yet.

The quote I got from camcoat was something daft like £250 for a Jl3, so I went the £20 route. If it's crap, it was cheap.

I've got a BGM clubman ceramic coated, this will be 6 years ago now and it is still good as gold but is mainly a fairweather ride.

On my all weather scooter I had a Franspeed Race just with the standard coating that it comes with, it corroded all the way through in the 2nd winter, so I replaced it with the same pipe again and had it ceramic coated, we are now into the 2nd winter and it is holding up well. Think it cost me around £80-90 so worth it in my opinion, even if it means the pipe last 1 extra year it will have paid for itself.

Camcoat's prices have rocketed up recently, I paid £90+vat for my clubman to be cermakromed, called them 3 years later to get my expansion ceramic coated black and they quoted over £200 + vat!

Thanks all.

Had a quote today from performance 1. They quoted a little over £100 for their "volcanic" coating which is supposed to withstand temperatures of up to 1,050 degrees C. 1 year warranty as well.

I used Camcoat in the past which has lasted well on a B-Race downpipe over maybe five thousand miles.
I decided to try Zircotec/Performance 1 on a Franspeed this time round. Zircotec is I believe the industrial side of Performance1, both out of the same industrial unit in Abingdon. It is definitely cheaper to drop them in and get a price face to face...
