I'm thinking of trying one the Richard Taylors big block GT 200 kits. I hope to keep my 25mm PHBL breathing through the air box and AF Clubman. Anyone got experience of these kits. My riding is usually 400-500 miles a weekend, usually motorway miles. I'm looking to be able to cruise at 60 with the ability to be able to go (easily) up to 65 to overtake those pesky wagons. Any thoughts would be much appreciated. cheers Paul

Great kit, done 1300 miles on mine so far. You can run it with a 25mm carb and AF clubman but not sure if this setup will be too restrictive for those speeds, I could be talking out of my backside though, Richard will be able to give you more advise or Eden who has done 000's of miles on this kit

Nearly finished putting mine together.....must say that I think a 25mm is too small...

Guy I know from Birmingham runs a 25mm I think, on his through the airbox with a big bore.

eden...be interesting to know his jetting on the 25mm ?

Jetting on my 25 mm carb through air box with gt200 kit and BGM exhaust is

AQ 266 with K22 needle on second notch

For first 400 miles main 102 reduced to 100

And pilot 54 reduced to 50

Plug still has good colour

Will be doing a 250 mile round trip on weekend and will be keeping record of fuel consumption and comparing it with a GT186 with 30 mm carb open mouth and AF Clubman. Think the GT200 will give better economy

Your right it's a D22, glasses must have had dirt on them

GT200 kit fitted into this old gal.......old engine I managed to blow up on the hi way last year...so
its a good transplant ......Got 40 miles on it and its very smooth so far no issues and I'm running it
on 4% Motul800 fully Synth, and keeping it under 40mph and half throttle for the next 400 miles...
Also fitted a Cyclone box and a AF Race clutch basket(nice bit of kit ). Squish set at 1.5mm, 0.7mm
base gasket used and 0,5 head gasket used, Ign timing is at 17 degrees static.( Shit fuel over here).
Carb is 30mm PHBH with a 55 pilot , X2 needle 2nd notch with shim, 45 slide(rich) AV268 Atomiser,
135 main jet, 300 float needle.....BGM12V IGN and flywheel, and a BGM pro rear shock..+BGM pipe.
Feels very smooth and So far so good........gonna put some further miles on it this weekend . G.

You can run the kit with a 25mm Delly through the airbox, this is one of the options that Rich Taylor offers, along with a clubman exhaust and I would imagine this would still be an improvement on a standard setup

Got about 50 miles on this kit last weekend........kept it under 40 and half throttle.... raining
today and I'm jet lagged from return London trip But tomorrow I'll throw another 50 miles
on it ....so far so good G.

Quick 40 miles at 36-44 MPH . 4%. Good run nice weather ....Kit feels good. G

Feels like it really wants to go I'm really digging the 5 speed on this kit.

400 Miles? Is this your running in period mileage wise?

I 'm thinking 400 miles around 40'ish.......then another 200 between 40-50
and another 200 up to 55mph...then 100 under 60mph and then 100 at 3%
up 65mph. Then the open road .

I usually run them cautiously for 100miles then thrash 'em and hole them or seize
them .....so this will be the first engine I've run in properly G.

I'm running in a newly born old skool ported 225. Done 118 miles since Sunday at 30, reccomended I do 250 at this speed, then another 250 at 40, then 250 at no more than 50, then not to be held flat out for long periods...all before next Thursday before leaving the south coast for Bridlington.
