Need a shorter than standard rear shock to get frame/manifold clearance, anyone know if such a thing exists?

Std. Series3 shocks are approx 300, need one 280.

The converted R1 shocks are 290 I think, I fitted on for the same reason

Look at the Casa offset cones with flat sided engine bar. Loads more clearance then normal offset cones

What's it like trying to get the main engine stud in compared to ordinary cones?

I get the feeling it should be easier due to the flat ...

Yes, I've got one fitted and still need a shorter shock.

Think I'll have to remove the reed packer to get more room.

Try giving Protech a call. They make excellent quality custom shock absorbers & sell a Lambretta version in several lengths. I believe they will custom make you one at whatever length you want, as some current Lambretta racer's have extra long shocks made by them for ground clearance. I know quite a few people who use them on their road bikes & do high mileage, myself included, never heard any complaints. Also UK made & a reasonable price.

The downside of doing this means your exhaust hangs real low.
I made some cut and weld mods on the frame of my last build to gain the necessary manifold clearances with a standard length shock. Some careful grinding of unecessary high spots of the inlet manifold also.
These new casa offset cones and some carefull grinding away of unecessary inlet manifold ally should do the trick though.
What cylinder is it?

Kit is a GT240, problem sorted now.

Took the reed packer off, 4mm less at manifold gave me 25mm at shock.

Never been so grateful for trigonometry.

Is the packer not there for a reason? Stop blocking the flow of the boost ports ?

I've built them before without a packer, was fitting one to see if it made any difference.
