Casa Lambretta 200 Small Block X1/ Sport

Postby Rastamouse » Sun Nov 22, 2020 11:47 am

Has anybody got any info on this new Casa kit? I've tried but can only find a Facebook post and a short bit of text in the Casa catalogue

The Kit X 1 / Sport, more displacement, more power, more fun!
This kit derives directly from the well-known X1, the best kit universally recognized for its great qualities of reliability, excellent performance and low consumption.
This new model is dedicated to the more sporty Lambretta friends who want more power and more speed.
The cylinder has been redesigned with a special profile at the exhaust, a world exclusive from Gilardoni, which significantly improves the output of exhaust gases.
The enlarged intake port and the fifth transfer give this kit the most exciting performances.
The combustion chamber profile has been designed to improve torque at low revs, to better adapt to the Lambretta engine's 4-speed gearbox.
The kit is completed by the Meteor racing piston, which mounts the best piston rings on the market: NPR, Nippon Piston Ring.
Of course the thread on the exhaust studs has been reinforced with steel inserts
The new kit will be released in mid-September.

I asked about this here earlier this month and got no feedback.

I'd be surprised if any are currently in use. Although they were due for release in September, Casa Lambretta in the US doesn't have them in stock yet, and I've not seen them on listed on any of the other major Casa dealers websites, including RLC and SCK. It sounds exactly what I'm looking for a low revving, 'city tune' small block I'm planning to rebuild this winter, but I'm reluctant to be a guinea pig for new products, especially given the issues with the Casa 185 (heads with a geometric compression of 10.8:1 and recent batch of under sized rings).

Very interested in any feedback from anyone that has built one.

Agree about being a guinea pig, when I messaged them they said the kit is available now but that was 8 weeks ago, but I still haven't seen it advertised for sale anywhere

It looks like RLC now have them available for pre-order. If you build one, please post your experience here. I'll be watching with interest.

Interesting, but it is hard to imagine that there is room for another cylinder kit in the over-crowded market place.

The GT186 with a bpx pipe will potter around a city all day long and return very decent mpg and is no slouch performacewise. Dont have one myself but have ridded with mates with them all over europe

I love my gt186 - probably more than the gt240

The 186 I ride is a joy to ride , great in town and country and I went to Italy on it with no troubles other than a split carb rubber.
It’s happiest at 40- 60.can squeeze 65 + at a push.

It’s being dyno’d next week so ’ll post the graph

Exactly Martin.

Then there's this snippet "This new model is dedicated to the more sporty Lambretta friends who want more power and more speed.
That's every other 185/195/198 kit on the market except for Scootopia which is more or less a copy of the X1.

The next major player will be the reed version of the RT195 kit. There's already a 225 version so if that's a (commercial) success the 195 will surely follow as the 65mm reed piston is already an off the shelf part.

So are you saying that there's an off the shelf rt225 reed kit available now?

Yes - havent seen it anywhere else other than Scooter Centre

You still need to buy the reedblock and manifold from elsewhere.

No idea whether they have just directly copied someone elses reed tune.

The afterkit market is already saturated - I'd expect at least 1 more dealer to release another kit but after that, surely it needs to be something thats a game changer to make an inpact in the market.

So many scooters have already got a kit that it would take something significant to change over for anything other than after a failure.

As previoulsy debated ad infinitum the pros & cons of each kit is hard to compare.

So many comments are made without actual experience of anything else - it needs some realtime testing and performance results in the same conditions. This I imagine would cost £££. Like most things though - there is little appitite from a manufacturer to supply kits into a comparision test which would potentially affect future sales and remove any chance of recovering development costs. Can you imagine the sales drop off from being worst performing kit in the sub £500 kit market. It would be brutal

The Bgm kit is tuned by Reply Scooters ;)
I’m aware that MB is also working on a complete reedvalve setup although not sure on release date :D

Ah! I wonder if it's the kit I've heard about, bearing in mind the two '"top tuners" involved?

They might name it the TFC, apparently. (TWO FACED COLLABORATION)

I'm only repeating what I heard......
