Why is a TS1 better than a Mugello?

I have a TS1 at the moment in my scoot, but my new project I'm putting a 225 mugello (Charlie tuned) Cambridge Lambretta,

So I'm very interested to know what the main differences are ..

Surely how it accelerates would be down to a particular setup. Gearing , pipe ,timing and jetting been the main factors. What do you think the mugello cylinder has that would make it accelerate quicker than a TS ?

I don't, I think the TS1 should accelerate quicker given that other factors are equal, ie, gearing and exhaust.

Having a Reaper tuned Mugello 225 I was always happy with it. I ran it every day, everywhere and it did me more than adequately, but I always thought it wasnt as good as a TS1. Once I got a TS1 I was again, very happy with it's performance, but I can't decide if it's any better than what I have with the Mugello.

I haven't been able to test them side by side, but I'd really like to. If I can get a 200 casing or one of my 150 casings modified at a price I can afford, I'll build the Mugello and put it in my GP.

Oops , guess i read that wrong sorry corrado . Well reversing my question having no experience of a mugello kit , i was on the understanding it was basically a copy of a TS1. What do you think the TS1 has over the mugello kit.

I've ran TS1's in various different setup's over the years . Different tune's ,pipes ,carbs and gearing , and what Adam said earlier its really down to rider riding style to what setups for you. When i've had what i thought was the ultimate setup for me , thinking this thing flys. My mate has been sat 5ft behind me on a totally standard TS1 no matched casings no barrel tune having me think , why have i bothered. A well setup standard TS1 really can go well this has been proven to me loads of times. It would be intresting to hear of well setup mugello's proving to do the same ?

Daz in standard form, as a bolt on kit, the Mugello is a piston port set up whereas TS1 is a reed valve set up so you aren't comparing like for like here unless you change the Mugello to reed valve. It's the Monza which is more like the TS1.

Hi Rich ,
thanks for that mate as i'll be honest i wasn't sure .Its not an avenue i 've ever considered (mugello). I suppose that makes me sound biased but i've always had TS1 so never really looked else where. I suppose a fairer or a more equivelent question maybe WHY IS A TS1 BETTER THAN A MONZA ? and i don't mean Super Monza.

Because in 28 years of service it's proved itself as a lovely trustworthy kit.The end! Or is it?
